As part of 2017 “Read Across America Day” on Thursday, March 2, Mayor Brian Arrigo read to students at the Beachmont School, Garfield School, Paul Revere School, Hill School, Whelan School and Lincoln School.
Read Across America Day, sponsored by the National Education Association, is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2 – Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books.
On Monday, February 27, the UMass-Boston Collins Center for Public Management presented to the City Council a Human Resources report and analysis. The report outlines the city’s most glaring HR deficiencies -- most notable being that Revere is by far the largest city in the Commonwealth without an HR Director. It identifies years of nonexistent or inconsistent hiring practices, a lack of adequate personnel policies, and insufficient training and support for employees.Read more
After a successful series of cleanup events in 2016, Beautify Revere returns to kick off 2017 with a citywide, Earth Day cleanup on Saturday, April 22, from 9:30 AM-12:00 PM.Read more
Ending the stigma around addiction needs to be more than just a slogan: it requires a serious commitment from leaders at all levels of government. That’s why I have made this work central to my first year in office.
Last year, my administration launched a Substance Use Disorder Initiatives office for the City of Revere, increasing our capacity to provide help and support to individuals and families struggling with drug use. We are one of the only cities in the Commonwealth with an office dedicated to this work.Read more
